Academic City is a master planning development that brings forth the new city sector of Dubai known as International Academic City. The client, whose previous successful project was Knowledge Village, wanted to continue this success with a format that could be considered truly a focused education district. In cohesion with knowledge village, the façade of the buildings maintains the same modern arabesque aesthetic, a form of architectural branding for the client’s intentions. The actual master plan is in the form of a massive scale L-shape, with pathways that center each axis and contains intervals of large, lush green spaces throughout. The buildings line the edges of the plot, with a central community note at the apex of the two axes. This central community area contains an Amphitheatre as well as an arching food court that lines the edge of the theatre. The project was designed with phase development in mind, to achieve a carefully thought and planned out city section dedicated to educating for the future.
