The Movenpick hotel is one of the more classically decadent designs in DAR’s project history. Initially designed for the Holiday Inn chain, the design is neo-classical, with modern elements adding fresh touches to the project. The exterior indicates these attributes, with a series of dramatic archways, canopies, copper, and gold colored aluminum balustrades, all with ornately detailed features. The façade is an introduction to the classically designed interior, which houses a U-shaped grand staircase that is situated in the center and greets guests. The entire lobby is an atrium-like format, with the unique feature of guest room windows facing into vast space. The ground floor hosts the main all-day dining, as well as a multipurpose hall with a hydraulic stage that comes from the basement to the ground level. The project is a very classically opulent addition to Dubai’s array of architectural styles.
