Universal American School is situated in one of the most modern yet leisurely areas of Dubai, Dubai Festival City. In likeness with the values as well as the area, UAS has commissioned DAR for its proposed extensions of the existing campus. To create a sense of place as well as inspire inclusive learning and confidence in the students, the design is very contemporary and vibrant in aesthetic. The architectural approach for the cafeteria and the atrium within the central space is focused on sustainability and mutual respect for the surrounding environment. This is shown through choices of sustainable materials, as well as analyzing and applying elements of the surrounding environment into the design. Once the extensions are complete, they will be connected to the original campus buildings in a way that creates beautiful social green areas for play and interaction.
