Al Shira Tower is a residential building situated in Jumeirah Lakes Towers and features a few unique design features unseen by its neighbors. The client desired a reminiscence of a boat in the design, as implied by the name of the tower Al Shira, meaning the sail. As such, a sail-shaped tensile structure sits atop the roof and acts as the crown of the tower. The tower features one, two, and three-bedroom apartments designed both spaciously yet efficiently. The tower overlooks the JLT Lake, as well as the cross-road neighborhood of Marina. The façade glazing and balconies are emphasized in these two view directions. Compared to a good portion of neighbors, the tower is more solid massing for its façade, with recessions for the balconies, and regulated apertures for the windows. The project contributes to the broad design spectrum showcased in the JLT area.
