Jumeirah Beach Residences

Status: Completed, February, 2007 | Built Up Area: 1,500,000 ft² | Floors: B+G+M+P+UP+44/ 42/ 44 (3 Towers)

Jumeirah Beach Residence is a luxurious neighborhood development adjacent to the shore and the Marina neighborhood. The podium contains a lively, commercial stretch with a Riviera feel to it. It has recently been expanded by a low-rise development comprising of retail and restaurants called The Beach. With its human scale and the engaging design, the new development shows how much architecture can facilitate human interaction. Jumeirah Beach Residence itself has been optimized in regard to the return-on-invest: the density of the towers pushes the boundaries, and the architecture embraces the rationality of the Plattenbau typology. This in combination with the prime location brings an exciting, social situation: apartments with a panoramic sea view cater to a different clientele rather than flats facing directly onto the next building. The project spans 1.7km along the beach of the gulf. The development was a collective effort of architectural firms, with DAR handling the supervision of the project, and the general concept designed initially by Woods Bagot.
