The Dubai Customs Dry Port Upgradation was a different solution-finding exercise for DAR. Apart from being one of the few projects DAR has encountered with pre-existing conditions, this project was especially unique in that the construction needed to occur while still allowing the facility to operate continuously. The project consisted of phases of demolition for warehouse relocation, to building new standalone structures comprising of warehouses, cafeterias, and iconic gateway entrances. Although the warehouses were created with specific regulatory forms in mind, iconic gateways and cafeterias were designed with the traditional Emirati architectural aesthetic.
