The Springs Souk is a community-based retail center serving the Springs, Meadows, and Emirates Hills neighborhoods in its vicinity. Aside from the base purpose, the aesthetic goals were to harmonize the project with the surrounding residential environment using colors and façade details that reflect the surrounding styles. A contemporary take on traditional Mediterranean elements was used as efficiently as possible to achieve this. The project’s façade went through a series of elevation evolutions to more efficiently accomplish the fluctuating budget targets that occurred throughout the project. Thus, the façade eventually came to show a balance of visual minimalism with notes of the Mediterranean essence in the most dynamic points. All the while, DAR was able to achieve the interior retail space goals as the initial targets increased.
